Transformers Generations Springer blog review

The first time I saw this guy I knew I wanted to get one for myself and I’m happy about that choice. He is one of three triple-changers that Hasbro released for their thirtieth anniversary series and is a great mold. First let’s look at his package.

It is the typical box for a voyager class transformer, with the window to let you see your new friend and enough writing to give you the point but not be an eyesore. Now let’s open him up and have a bit of playtime!

The instruction are simple enough with chopper on front and car on back. Some shmexy artwork on the instructions, borrowing a word from Tets at Tets’ Toys and Shenanigans.

Springer seems to be a typical voyager class with some cool colors and weapons and a car-load of spunk(or is that a chopper-load?). Anyway, look at this beast. He’s frickin awesome.

He is the original G1 coloration of Springer. Of course that’s what our friends at Hasbro wanted to give their loyal shoppers. He runs about $22 American at most stores, and is well worth every penny. Reading his bio, he seems very self-righteous and has a bad-boy attitude. He prefers to work alone and takes no prisoners.

His sword can become a bayonet for his blaster cannon which has two separately launching missiles. The sword also transforms into a rotor for the helicopter. You get an awesome looking chopper with this figure. All three forms are fairly solid and he has ratchets in his knees and elbows which are strong and click sharply.

His colors aren’t overwhelming over each other, but are brighter than most bad-boys would prefer. He balances well, but I forgot to take pictures of him in his motion pose. He has fairly small and not too bad looking backpack. And if you disagree, you could always place his blaster or sword back there. I definitely recommend this figure to any collector of Transformers. And now, Transform!

His chopper mode is probably my favorite of his two vehicle forms. The front landing gear can fold up to attach his blaster cannon under the cockpit.

His car form is just as solid and has storage underneath for the sword. The spoiler parts can flip around to be sort of like police lights and I think hed make a descent prowl if repainted.

All in all, we have a very nice triple-changer and addition to the Autobot army, as well as a voyager class that doesn’t seem too out of proportion, except in car mode, in comparison to deluxe class cars. He definitely fits in with the rest of the generations series, what with his bright exuberant colors, and has earned the nickname Sprite, as Bruticus is Skittlecus.
Springer: Are you ready to taste my carbonated lemon-lime cannon?!
Bruticus: No! I’m ready for you to taste the rainbow!

  1. He does indeed have shmexy artwork there. I finally received my Japanese version and think its a great toy! Although the chopper looks a bit half-arsed and it is lacking the artwork on the instructions. Still on the box. i do like the weapon storage options in robot mode and pretty much everything about this toy (bar the chopper).
